It’s amazing how humans can be heartless towards each other
just because they do not share the same beliefs. From doing countless research throughout the
semester I strongly believe that the one group that suffers the most in Africa
is the gay community. There are numerous
stories about gay individuals being beaten or killed in Africa it is really
heart breaking. This man named Paul
(which isn’t his real name) was praying for his life just minutes before he was
beaten by a mob if men and women. The
people only stopped beating him because they heard a gun shoot. However, the police did not help him at all,
the officer announced it to the other men in the cells that he was a gay
man. Sure enough Paul was beaten and
sexually abused by the other men in jail.

I'm speechless, such indignity. My best friend is gay, I love him like a brother. I spent a good amount of time reminding people that he no different from them, just more "quirky". The stigma in some societies just cannot be broken, and it is disheartening to know that there will always be some kind of prejudice and judgement again humans for whatever reason.
ReplyDeleteWell i can agree that teh gay community does suffer but i do think their are many other socities that do suffer. and i cant believe they told the men in the cells that he was gay. i wonder if they do that here in the states.
